Costs of Heating Repair

by John Gradick / Wednesday, 11 December 2013 / Published in Heating Repair and Maintenance

Scenario: It’s January, 35 degrees outside and you wake up to find that the heating system or furnace in your home is on the fritz. Not a good start to your day!

It’s never fun to have to deal with the inconveniences of your hvac malfunctioning, but fortunately, there are some precautionary steps to take to ensure better performance and less of these “inconveniences.”

hp05What is the root of the problem?

Often times, our heating and cooling systems will malfunction from improper cleaning and maintenance. This is why it is important to have your hvac systems serviced regularly. It can be cost efficient and will be sure to save you future problems of parts and the whole system breaking down.

The problem may be caused by electrical issues in which case it’s not your system at all and you should check your electrical wiring and circuit breakers.

If the problem is caused by a malfunctioning part or components, the cost may be much higher. An experienced and quality hvac company will be able to give you an accurate quote after coming to the home and assessing the issue and the proper plan of action.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Having your heating and cooling systems regularly serviced is one of the best investments you can make regarding your home hvac system. Not only will it extend the life of the parts and the system as a whole, but the parts will not have to work as hard; therefore, lowering the costs of your energy bills as a whole. The three parts of your system that need to maintained are the filters, blowers and motor. You can replace your filters and should do so every 2-3 months. Scheduling yearly maintenance by a professional to have your motor and blower cleaned will be beneficial.

Replacement and Installation of a New System

The recommended life of an hvac system is 10-15 years. If you have had a system longer than this period of time, you may want to consider the purchase and installation of a new system. Newer systems are not only more energy efficient; therefore saving you money in the long run, but also the cost of frequent repairs can start to add up in the later years of your furnace.
